An Immensely Proud Day

Twice a year, the Governor-General of New Zealand holds investiture ceremonies for the people named in the New Year and Queen’s Birthday honours lists. This year, it was my honour to attend a ceremony in Wellington, where my Step-Daughter Raelene Castle was the recipient of an Order of Merit for services to sport and business.

Investiture

It was a grand occasion that began with ‘God Save the Queen’ and then at the conclusion of the ceremony the National Anthem, God Defend New Zealand, is sung in Māori and English. After the ceremony, we were invited to an afternoon tea and took the opportunity to have a look around Government House in Wellington.

It was an immensely enjoyable day and I was bursting with pride – Congratulations Raelene. Photo above is Kevin & Marlene with step-daughter Raelene Castle and Hon. Pesata Sam Lotu-Iiga.
